Hey High Rollers, are you wagering on the NCAA championship tonight? March Madness baby. If you are, please click the banners/links on this page and you’ll be betting on your favourite team in no time. It helps. We’d also love for you to subscribe to our youtube channel, 2-to-1 you’ll LOVE it! We’ve got dynamite interviews with some of the greatest gamblers, poker players and authors in the business today. Plus, we offer informative pieces like our latest video below:

Your Main Opponent at the Table?

Every day millions of people worldwide go to the casino, sit at the poker table and begin to play one of the most exciting an intellectual games ever invented, either for real money or for play money (in social networks or in poker rooms). Did you know it’s possible to play poker for real money for free? It is!  With the help of special no deposit poker bonuses, you are able to join the action with a chance at real money. More info about such bonus types is available at www.pokerglobal.info web site.

Technology development made it possible for us to play this game anywhere. Imagine that, anywhere! And, you can play against real opponents from the comforts of your own home, from your desktop and you can even play on your way to work from your mobile phone or tablet etc. To join the poker community these days all it takes is a smartphone and Internet access. For instance, 888 Poker is available on desktops and mobile phones.

Keep in mind, when you’re playing onlne poker you don’t see your opponents, don’t feel their breath, emotions and it’s hard to spot tells. You can’t “read” them to make the right decision based on these factors.

Technological advancements have helped to popularize this card game, on the list of most popular games ever invented, and now you have almost unlimited abilities with the development of technology in poker. Practically all online poker rooms provide an opportunity to play some kinds of poker for FREE with the help of freerolls or no deposit bonuses. There are many poker web sites where one is able to study poker strategy in free access, watch videos and recordings of popular live series, streams, etc.

But if everything’s within reach, why is it that so few people are able to demonstrate really a positive play? To answer this question, you have to understand your main opponent at the table. This is you we’re talking about.

You are your greatest opponent. Yourself! Poker players have to fight their own fears, laziness and bad habits to build a successful strategy of knowledge in free access. Also, experience is needed and it’s possible to get that but only if you stay in the game and continue working on self-discipline, You have to learn, improve and play constantly. If you decided to become a successful, effective player, treat the game like your job and act respectively.

Don’t hope for luck or weak play of your opponents at the poker table. Make yourself and your skill responsible. Win yourself and then you can start to play against the others!

Good luck at the tables!

Poker & Gambling Features: Big Wagers, High Stakes Blackjack & Roving Gamblers!

Hey High Rollers, have you been enjoying the ESPN coverage of the 2016 WSOP main event? How about William Kassoeuf, the talkative one time chip-leader, who ran his pocket Kings into Griffin Benger’s pocket Aces with just 15 left? Known for his ‘speech play’, Kassoeuf certainly was the talk of the poker world, not so much for the things he was actually saying, but perhaps more for the time he was ‘wasting’ while saying them. Personally, I loved it. Love his talk, entertaining indeed, but yes it would be nice if play could speed up a bit. Can you say shot clock? It’s coming.

Alright, we are taking our time (sorry for delay) in launching our newly updated site at www.highrollerradio.net, new design, same great ciontent and more. It will be ‘live;’ soon…so please stay tuned. In the meantime, we are transferring a lot of our audio content to youtube, in the form of some short, informative, and hopefully enjoyable videos. Titanic Thompson AKA Alvin Clarence Thomas

Greatest hustler ever?  A roving, gambling legend who is said to have killed five men in his lifetime.  He was a key figure in the so-called ‘Crime of thre Century’, the murder of Arnold Rothstein.

One of Titanic Thompson’s partners in “the hustling game” included pool player Mnnesota Fats, who considered Titanic a genius, “the greatest action man of all time”.  Note: Thompson’s one weakness, as he admitted, was betting on horse racing, where he lost millions of dollars during his life in failed bets.

In an era when top pro golfers were lucky to earn $30,000 a year, Thomas (who, after a misprint in a New York newspaper, let people think his name was Thompson) could make that much in a week hustling rich country club hackers. He was once asked if he would ever turn pro?  He replied, “I could not afford the cut in pay”.

Writer Damon Runyon allegedly based the character Sky Masterson, the gambler-hero of The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown (on which the musical Guys and Dolls is based), on Thompson.

“In the spring of 1912, I went to Joplin, Missouri, just about the time the (Titanic) liner hit an iceberg and sank with ,ore than 1,500 people on board.  I was in a pool room there and beat a fellow named Snow Clark out of $500.  To give him a chance to get even, I bet $200 I jump across his pool table without touching it.  If you think that’s easy, try it. But I could jump father than a herd of bullfrogs in thise days.  I put down an old mattress on the other side of the table.  Then I took a run and dived head first across the pool table.  While I was counting my money somebody asked Clark what my name was.  ‘It must be Titanic,’ said Clark.  ‘He sinks everybody.’  So I was Titanic from then on.”

Titanic Thompson was honored at the first World Series of Poker in 1970.  He had made gambling trips with his eldest son Tommy for many years, but after his father died, Tommy, a skilled, successful gambler in his own right, gave up a life of making bets for a church ministry. He successfully counsels prisoners and preaches to convince others to stay away from gambling.

Amarillo Slim’s Greatest Prop Bets

* Playing Minnesota Fats in one-pocket pool with a broom.
* Taking 21 and 1/2 points on the Jets and Broadway Joe in Super Bowl III.
* Hitting a golf ball a mile on a frozen lake (inspired by Titanic Thompson).
* Betting which sugar cube a fly would land on in an Arkansas jail.
* Out running a horse for a hundred yards (no one ever said anything about the race being straight away. The horse had to stop and turn around and Slim won.)
* Shooting free throws with a football against a Hall of Fame basketball coach.
* Beating Bobby Riggs playing ping pong with a skillet as a paddle.
* Beating a world champion ping pong player with a Coca Cola bottle.
* Rafted down the River of No Return in the winter in a wetsuit and won $31,000 from Jimmy ‘The Greek’ Snyder.
* Beating Evel Knievel in golf using a carpenter’s hammer.
* Betting that two out of 30 cab drivers in Dallas would have the same birthday.

Sammy Farha

Ihsan “Sam” Farha, born in Beirut, Lebanon, is a high-stakes professional poker player best known for his heads-clash with Chris Moneymaker at the 2003 World Series of Poker. Farha lost a major pot on Day 2, leaving him with only 10% of his starting stack, and considered leaving but was talked into staying by Barry Greenstein.  The rest is history!

PokerStars organized a rematch of their main event showdown a few months later and Farha won. They then played a special ‘grudge’ match at the 2011 WSOP and Moneymaker proved victorius in the best-of-three format.

After winning the $5,000 Omaha Hi-Lo (8 or better) event in 2006, Farha skipped the event the next three years. He then played it again in 2010 when it was increased to a $10,000 buy-in – and won!  So, while not winning the event consecutively, Farha did claim the bracelet both times he played in the event.

Sammy co-authored a book, Farha on Omaha, which is a detailed guide on Omaha poker strategy. He intersperses basic strategies with his own personal style of play.

Bracelets

1996: $2500 Pot Limit Omaha ($145,000)
2006: $5000 Omaha Hi/Low $398,560
2010: $10,000 Omaha Hi/Low, $488,241

UIEGA

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is a piece of United States legislation, introduced in 2006 to regulate online gambling.  It was added as Title VIII to the SAFE Port Act, which otherwise regulated port security.  It “prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law.”

When the act was passed, all online gambling sites listed on the London Stock Exchange (or similar markets) stopped taking U.S. players. PartyGaming, which runs PartyPoker.com, had its publicly traded stock drop by almost 60% in 24 hours as a result of the bill’s passage. The company was moved from the FTSE 100 Index to the FTSE 250 Index on October 11, 2006.

The founders of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker, the three largest online poker sites in the world, were among those indicted in April 2011 for violations of the UIGEA.  According to the U.S State Attorney in New York, the companies allegedly tried to circumvent UIGEA rules with the help of others who acted as “payment processors”, which allowed the companies to disguise gambling revenue as payments for non-existent goods like jewellry or golf balls.

What Not To Do In A Casino & Chip Stacker Supreme

Steve Dannenmann’s
‘Top Ten’
Things NOT to do in a Casino:

1. Never, ever, ever play Ace-three at the poker table…it seriously could cost you millions…
2. Don’t block the line at the ATM machine before midnight waiting for yet another withdraw cause you didn’t bring 2 ATM cards…
3. Don’t pack the casinos pillows in your suitcase, airport security will always catch you…still just saying
4. Don’t yell “baby needs a new pair of shoes” at the roulette wheel… that’s a craps table play
5. Don’t get caught dipping casino chips in your beer then betting your lucky number on the roulette wheel
6. Don’t ever stay at a casino that has their name on the towels, just saying…
7. Don’t get caught staring at the waitresses name badge while sitting next to your girlfriend at a slot machine…
8. Don’t ask other players what the count is at the blackjack table when the pit boss walks by…
9. Don’t lose all your money in the casino and make your girlfriend walk the vegas strip in heels…for 26 blocks….
10. Don’t take 2 ATM cards with you to the casino…not a good idea.

The Chip Stacker
Here’s what artist and sculpture professor Liu Jianhua painstakingly constructed a handful of years ago using an incredible array of styles and colors.

Titanic Thompson

Amarillo Slim is widely known to have learned many of his proposition bet schemes from Alvin Clarence Thomas, a gambler and hustler, known as ‘Titanic Thompson.’  His reputation as a golfer, card player, marksman and pool shark is legendary, his skills often compared to Merlin himself.  ‘Titanic Thompson’ travelled the USA wagering at cards, dice games, even horseshoes and he’d make enormous prop bets when he had the obvious edge.
A roving gambler in an age when gamblers carried guns for protection, it’s believed Thomas killed five men in his life; shot four of them shot in self-defence when they tried to rob him of his winnings one night.  He was also involved in a high-stakes poker game that escalated into, what was then called, the
 ‘Crime of the Century’.

Fun Fact:

After taking 500 bucks off a rival in a pool game one night, a spectator asked, “what’s his name?” The opponent replied, “It must be Titanic; cause he sinks everybody.”

Proud to announce a brand new show to debut this Thursday night at 8 p.m. eastern on Your Poker Radio, a new and exciting radio network featuring a ton of great shows, including High Roller Radio past interviews.  Wanna check it out?  Simply visit our homepage at www.highrollerradio.net and hit Channel 1 or Channel 2.  We’re set to air at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. eastern on Thursday night’s on Channel 1, with a re-run on Friday’s at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Channel 2.

‘Derrick & Dannenmann’ features Derrick Oliver-Dewan, a veteran radio and television broadcaster and self-proclaimed poker junkie, and Steve Dannenmann, who is one of poker’s household names, finishing 2nd at the 2005 World Series of Poker main event for a cool $4.2 million.  He called Phil Hellmuth a ‘punk’ at the Tournament of Champions that same year.  Exciteable, opinionated, and funny.  This guy can play, despite referring to himself as ‘the 4th best’ in his home game.

Can’t wait for this show and network to launch this week folks, give us some time and I know we’re going to build it into a major winner.  If you hear AC/DC plaving then you know it’s time for the ‘Derrick & Dannenmann’ show on Your Poker Radio.

WE just did a fantastic interview with ‘Poker Joe’ Purvis, the man behind this new network, a friend of mine too, and with his hustle and smarts I truly believe this is going to be huge.  Very happy to be in on the griound floor.

Blackjack Hall of Fame

‘Blackjack Pete’

Love for Lyle
Lyle Berman, a three-time WSOPbracelet winner, has been elected into the Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame – It’s 1st member and much deserved too…this guy changed poker with theWPT.

“Lyle is not only a fierce competitor at the highest limits, he completely and indelibly changed the world of poker when he co-founded the World Poker Tour,” Canterbury Park’s Senior Director of Card Casino Operations Michael Hochman said in a statement. “We talked to a great deal of people about inaugural nominees into the Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame, and literally everyone’s first answer was Lyle Berman.”

Berman is from Minneapolis.
High Roller!

‘Dinsmore’

R. Scott Dinsmore is one of best contributors at High Roller Radio…here he has a brief correspondance with poker pro Dutch Boyd.

Interview with Dutch Boyd

RSD: How did you start playing poker on a professional level?

DB:  I had been sneaking into card rooms and playing online since I was 18, and loved playing. When I turned 21, I landed a job at Garden City in San Jose as a prop player. This would have been in 2002. A time-sheet and a schedule… that’s about as “professional” as it gets.

RSD:  What is your favorite poker game?

DB:  I like the mixed games… the 12/24 mixed game at Aria and the 8-game rotation on Stars.

RSD: Where is your favorite poker room?

DB:  In Vegas, the Aria is a beautiful room, but I think the Orleans treats their players better. My favorite live room was Gila River in Arizona… I think they changed the name, but they had so many great promotions. Online, I’d have to go with SealsWithClubs.eu… playing with bitcoin and getting cash outs the same day you request them is pretty awesome.

RSD:  What % do you play: Cash games ( 35% ) Tournaments ( 65% )

DB:  I’d be much better off if I just played cash games… tournaments are fluky and have a much lower hourly rate.

RSD:  What is your most memorable poker experience?

DB:  Ha… you don’t need to ask. You were there, bro! Taking down that first bracelet in front of the ESPN cameras, headsup with the former year’s champion after eliminating Negreanu in 8th (“spanking his ass” for the chiplead, lol).

RSD:  What is the most notable change you have seen in poker?

DB:  Well, the UIGEA and Black Friday made up the one-two punch that told us our government doesn’t want us making a career out of poker. It’s been sad watching pros have to relocate to play the game that they love. The game epitomizes everything that is good and bad about this country, and has such a deep history here. We have presidents who funded their political campaigns from poker winnings. Yet, it’s illegal to play Texas Hold’em in Texas or Omaha in Nebraska. The economy was crushed when the big sites left and I don’t think the US poker economy will ever get back to where it was before the UIGEA, even if we see interstate pacts.
